Show us your pets!!

While the party is not a place for dogs (sorry!) we still love your dogs, cats, fish, turtles, birds — even your snakes and bugs, but I may just be speaking for myself there. We would love to create a Pet Wall to get to know your pets. Please send us a photo with your pet’s name and your street. We’ll use that to create our neighborhood pet board for the party! Send your photo to susanseamaneureka@gmail.com or share it with us on Instagram or Facebook.

I’ll start with mine: Meet Oggie from F Street

Kid’s Parade

Let’s celebrate the children in our neighborhood by having a parade! You can come party “parade ready” — In costumes, with decorated modes of transportation, or just whatever feels fun for walking around. Or, you can come to our decoration booth and do it at the party. Thanks to First 5 Humboldt for helping with that booth.

We’ll line up at 2 p.m., play some parade music and let our kids march, ride, dance, twirl, skip or move around the park in whatever way makes them feel fantastic.

Where is it?

This event will be at Hammond Park, between E and F Street at 14th/15th.

If you have kids, we can’t wait to meet them.

If you don’t… every parade needs an audience. Come cheer them on!

Who will be there?

DJ L BoogieBecause, what’s a party without music?

Cruz N Kitchen — If you get to the party and you decide you’re hungry, you have an option! Thanks to Cruz N Kitchen for bringing their food truck to the party!

CERT — Humboldt Community Emergency Response Team will be there to help you learn how to prepare your neighborhood in case of disaster. (We also have free materials and give-aways from the Office of Emergency Services).

Christ Episcopal Church — There are three churches in the Muni Neighborhood. One of them, Christ Episcopal, on the corner of H and 14th, will be at the event ready to meet their neighbors.

First 5 HumboldtWith the belief that the strength of our community is powerfully linked to the health of our youngest residents, First 5 offers playgroups throughout the County (including the Jefferson Center). Today, they’ll help kids decorate their bikes, wagons, scooters, strollers or themselves for the Kid’s Parade at 2 p.m.

Picnic at the Park

Come visit, pack some snacks and stay a while! We will have waters and cold drinks available — and we’ll have a food truck ready to provide lunch if you want to pick something up when you’re there. But, if you’re thinking about bringing a picnic, here are some things to remember:

1) Hammond Park does not have picnic tables. Bring a blanket, beach towels, a table cloth or camp chairs and make a space yours at the park.

2) You can create an elaborate picnic, or make a couple PB&J sandwiches. There’s something about eating outside that makes everything taste better.

3) Think finger foods, but also remember to bring anything you might need for cutting, spreading or otherwise serving your food. Don’t forget a wet dish cloth, or wet wipes to eliminate any stickiness!
